Surya Namaskar - used often in vinyasa yoga practices, sun salutations are often misunderstood and misrepresented. If we’re honest with ourselves, we know they’re more than just a warm up for other poses, and given their frequency in use, it’s important to clean them up and learn how to move in and out of these strings of poses with attention and focus. Spend an afternoon re-grounding yourself in the fundamentals of Surya Namaskar while deepening your yoga practice overall.
In the workshop you will:
• Familiarize yourself with Surya Namaskar classic, A and B as well as other variations
• Learn modifications to accommodate your individual body
• Experience the use of props and how they help accentuate and deepen certain poses
Catherine (RYT500) has been a yoga student for over 15 years, having arrived to her first Iyengar yoga class after injuries halted her competitive running career. She completed her 200hr teacher training with Kim Weeks at Boundless Yoga (DC) and later completed her 300hr teacher training under Chrissy Carter at YogaWorks (NYC). An Iyengar student and certified Level 1 YogaWorks teacher, Catherine has been teaching for almost a decade and brings a sense of humor to her obsession with alignment.
