Ryan offers a unique and thoughtful program of Taoist Yoga and Qigong healing meditation that’s insightful for beginner yogis and seasoned practitioners alike. Ryan has crafted this experience of radical self-care for the people of Washington DC with great love and care. The practices are potent, can provide deep insight and create loving community that will enrich your life.
The program introduces Tao Yin, yoga techniques that help you develop a deep connection to the movement center of the body, the lower abdomen, improving your structural alignment and overall health and increasing awareness in your “gut brain”.
The heart is center of the energy-body and the root of your healing journey into Qigong. You learn about the energy-body through eastern philosophy and spiritual discussion, as well as practical experience, in guided meditative journeys. These practices have also been called ‘the secret teachings of yoga” as they are deep internal dives where the body is still and energetic movement is happening with breath and awareness. Practices progress to standing posture with gentle movements that complement the movements of body energy. With mind and breath you learn to actively engage the energy body, understand its pathways and patterns. Together we consciously awaken to and work with the invisible aspects of ourselves. Science and spirituality meet as we explore the relationship between Earth, Human and Heaven.
Ryan has been involved in healing as a massage therapist since 1996. He started his exploration of qigong with Damaris Jarboux and James MacRitchie at The Center Place in Boulder CO in 1997. Ryan traveled to China in 1998 and 2000 to study with the World Academic Society of Medical Qigong and created taught a 50-hour program on Energy-Body Healing at South Bay School of Massage where he taught massage from 2002-2007. Ryan went back to Damaris in 2015 to further his study of qigong healing and completed her program end of last year.
The program is broken into a few segments so you have choices and options, if you need more info or a breakdown on the options contact Ryan@selflesslotus.com. There are plans for a Qigong Facebook group where questions and connections can happen outside of practice time and if you miss a week or two, its cool. The plan is to record live sessions (audio only) and post MP3s to Dropbox with other handouts and essential documents so you can keep up if you are traveling or have more pressing commitments. The best way to learn is to be part of the group, as we create our own unique group energy and greater forces of good and angels get curious and come to join us when we play in the light together.
