Governor Hogan has sent some really bad legislation to the General Assembly that will make Baltimore's violence problem worse, not better. From mandatory minimum sentencing to denial of parole, these bills propose ineffective and cruel policies that look "tough on crime" but don't address the root causes of violence.
Right now, committees in the Senate and the House of Delegates are considering this legislation, and we need JUFJ members from all over the state to call the committee members who represent their districts and urge them to vote "no."
Here's how you can help:
On Tuesday, February 13, from 6:30-8:30 pm, join JUFJ's Equal Justice Under the Law team at a phonebank.
We will be calling JUFJ members who live in the Districts whose legislators sit on the relevant committees to urge them to call their legislators.
The phonebank will be hosted at a private home. RSVP to email@example.com for the address.
