JASZ has its roots in the foods of the Harlem jazz era, when musicians finished performing in the early hours of the morning and ate a breakfast food (waffles) paired with a dinner item (chicken).
Our concept has taken this several steps further by showcasing flavored chicken and a variety of Belgium Waffles. Jasz marries the old word jazz or jasim, to spin this unique concept of flavored chicken and waffles. It brings together something old and something new to create a novel concept.
What set us apart are the innovative and creative flavors and techniques that have been seldom used. For example, our chickens are Pickle Brined, Spice Rubbed, Smoked/Fried, or Poach/Fried. These are all techniques that break the rules in combination.
Additionally we use a Belgium Waffle recipe that adds flavors such as Chinese Five Spice, Corn, and of course, Traditional Belgium Waffle. The pairings we create are unique -Korean Double Fried Chicken and Five Spice Waffle; Smoked Fried Chicken and Corn Waffle; Pilipino Adobo Fried Chicken with Spring Onion Waffle and Pickled Garlic are just some of our offerings.
